Hi All,

here's an attempt at a write up for Malia. There are plenty of parts of it I'm not too happy with at the moment, but there you go. Does anyone have any feedback/suggestions?

Malia

Malia is the goddess of disease. She was once a fertility goddess who discovered nourishment from death in the time of the Gods' War. As a member of the Unholy Trio with Ragnaglar and Thed, she was part of the ritual that allowed chaos into the world.
She is worshipped by, and gives her blessings to, Ragnaglar's children, the Broos and by many other creatures of chaos. Many other beings come to worship her through fear, hoping that she will spare them from the diseases that she controls.

Entry Requirements: Must have a fetch that can be awakened. Candidates other than Broos, who are favoured by Malia, must become a carrier of disease by allowing a Disease Spirit to be integrated into themselves.

Physical Skills: Hide Symptoms, Resist Disease.

Mental Skills: Find Herbs, Identify Disease Symptoms, Malia Tradition Knowledge, Mythology of Malia, Mythology of the Unholy Trio, Spread Disease, Treat Disease.

Traditional Spirits:

Disease Spirits (typical spirits include Brain Fever, Creeping Chills, Shaking Disease, Wasting Disease)
Pestilence Spirits (typical spirits include Petal Rot and Root Blight) Healing Spirits (typical spirits include Cool Fever, Give Strength, Stop Infection)

Special Spirits: Plague, Insect Spirits.

Spirit Allies: Disease Spirits, Insect Spirits.

Fetch: Disease Spirit.

Fetishes: Pus-soaked scraps of cloth and bandage, trinkets smeared in excrement or other bodily fluids. Scrapings from the diseased flesh of victims of plague. Shamans also create fetishes by gouging wounds into their flesh (and that of others) and leaving them to fester and become infected.

Tradition Secret: Invoke Plague (Acts as an integrated passion spirit, giving a bonus of 1/4 the target number to Spirit Combat when trying to bind or integrate disease spirits, or to any ability used in the course of a contest against a healer).

Worshippers: Fanatical cultists. Anyone whose fear of death and disease is enough to drive them to such a dark mistress.

Other Side: After death, worshippers of Malia join her in the Spirit World, from where they may return as Disease Spirits, helping to spread their mistress' tainted "blessings".

Disadvantages: The cult of Malia is universally feared and hated. Worshippers are hunted down and killed at every opportunity.

Special Spirits of the Malia Tradition

Plague
Might: 15W
Pieces of the Spirit of Plague are sources of virulent and rapidly-changing outbreaks of disease. They may be integrated or bound into fetishes and provide the ability to alter a disease spirit from one type to another (e.g., to change a Creeping Chills spirit into a Brain Fever spirit). They can also be integrated and used as passion spirits when resisting the efforts of healers to cure diseases.

Insect Spirits
Might: Varies considerably
Malia defeated a number of Gorakiki's children in the Darkness. They can act as carriers for Spirits of Disease, allowing them to spread far and wide with ease.

Disease Spirits
Might: Varies considerably
Normal disease spirits can be used to temporarily affect others with the symptoms of the relevant disease. Only by the spirit possessing its victim will the disease be made permanent. A shaman who has integrated a disease spirit can become a carrier of the disease without being infected by it themselves.

Pestilence Spirits
Might: Varies considerably
Are much like disease spirits, but they affect plants instead, including Aldryami.

Regards,

Bruce
