Richard Melvin:

<< Does Anaxial's Roster have an entry for 'human'?>>

No, of course not. There'd be nothing to write - by definition a human has no special abilities. Besides, there's no human 'species keyword' in HW, so anything added in AR would be a change to the character generation rules, which I don't think would go down well.

<< This would seem a really logical place to put a set of default keyword values, kind of like a 'species template' to match the existing cultural and profession templates.>>

There are species templates for non-humans, which are determined by what the species is better or worse at than humans.

<< Speak, Listen, Understand, Manipulate, Run, Dodge, See, Resist magic, Endurance
>>

You do not need a skill to speak in your own language, see something in front of your face, get out of bed in the morning etc. These come under the heading of 'something no self-respecting hero would fail at' and therefore require no rolls.

The typical human value for the sort of things you list, should you need them, is 6. If your character is better at average at, for instance, seeing things, you can give him Keen Eyesight at some appropriate rating. If not, he has Keen Eyesight 6. The same goes for Run Fast, Resist Injury, etc.

Forward the glorious Red Army!
