The following all IMO :

check, with the entirely personal reserve that I'm a semi-simulationist

Aaah, there's the rub.

But the _vast_ improvements in presentation of the HW line (especially with BA) leave me with the firm impression that HW2 will look great !

Agreed, unreservedly.

What do GMs and players like ?

Big, beautiful, exciting books, filled to the brim with easy-to-use, well-written,
well-presented and well-designed gaming material.

Writing for other people is another escape route.

I'm _definitely_ starting a campaign once HW2 is released (and a 1620s timeline),
but I've never quite been able to fit my house style to HW1 (and its well-documented flaws).

Yes, I _very_much_ agree with this.

I am in TOTAL agreemebnt with this, with the proviso that it be a "proper" Hero Wars book, and not a RuneQuest-like one using the HW game system.

Not, I hasten to add, that there isn't scope for more books like UZ.

There is.

Personally, I think that UZ is _great_.

Indeed. And one that has also been used for Stormbringer/Elric, CoC, KAP, ...
