Certainly an obvious association, but too easy in my opinion. Egyptian is only about the most recognizable culture on the planet, I find it a bad choice to use as an analog because of that.

I've always followed the GoG description of Ty Kora Tek, which has her wrapped in a shroud (like Turin), not mummy windings.

An illo that's always bugged me as being way too Egyptian. See the non-Egyptian illos in King of Dragon Pass.

I've certainly seen this, but also run across that it was related to honor-price/oath-value. (BTW, I find it amusing that in Irish, the word for wergild is one syllable: cró, which to me speaks of its frequency.)

I believe it's almost exclusively Heortling. Heortlings are the "core Orlanthi," but Ralians will vary as will Fronelans, and the so-called Orlanthi of Umathela are almost unrecognizable IMO.
