Nick:

<< Maps of Esrolia show a small city called the Necropolis (cf. the RuneQuest Companion and Tradetalk #4). The unofficial write-up in TT#4 says, "The living inhabitants of this complex of temples and catacombs are outnumbered by the thousands of dead resting in and below the city. The Esrolian cult of Ty Kora Tek has its centre here." Given that TKT, the mummified goddess of funeral rites, is one of the major goddesses of Esrolia, I don't see Egyptian-style tombs, sarcophagi, mummies, catacombs etc. being out of bounds. (See also her illo by Dan Barker in Wyrms Footprints). >>

My write-up of mummies for AR definitely took this approach, and was intended to represent Esrolian mummies in particular (though I made mention of some very similar undead elsewhere). However, the piece was cut from the final book, possibly just for reasons of space, and so remains unofficial. I guess I could post it here if anyone's interested, but if not, it may appear at the Issaries site one of these days.

Peter:
<<IMO Fonrit is about the closest one gets with cyclopean remnants of the Artmali Empire dotting the land.>>

Agreed; indeed, this was one of the other areas I said had undead mummies in the AR draft, although I can't confirm whether or not there's any truth in that.
