Playing with the new Glorantha web page search engine was quite intriguing whwn Idid a search on Herotling. SOme extrafcts from the results:

http://www.glorantha.com/greg/q-and-a/devil.html BETWEEN DEVIL AND DAWN AGE
"Heortlings: Heort, the Whole Man who voluntarily undertook worship
of the gods. He did this by proving to his people that the gods had created the world for them to co-operate with."

Cryptic but it could imply that Heort may have had something to do with the establishment of religion for Heortlings as well

http://www.glorantha.com/greg/q-and-a.html Yelmalio

"Yelmalio is the popular name of a god currently worshipped in
southern Peloria, especially among the Alakoring tribes, but also among the Heortlings."

Does this lead us to suspect that one of the differences between Alakorings - in a GIttHW sense - and Heortlings is the Elmal/Yelmalio issue: whereas the Heortlings seem to have pushed his worship to the Sun Dome Temples outside the clan, many Alakorings clans may have replaced worship of Elmal with worship of Yelmalio
