Dunno, but have you read The Pillars of Earth by Ken Follet? It pictures a whole family of british architects in the XII century and they were not uber-specialist professionals, but humble, cunning, skilled masons.
So, you can perfectly imagine a highly specialized "Lunar Architect Cult", but your man (or woman) could more simply be a skilled Seven Mother initiate, with a passion or family tradition for building.
