- There definitly IS cultural relativism in defining crimes.
Americans do not consider George Washington a traitor, nor do the
British consider Drake a pirate. Was Orlanth a traitor? Depends on
your culture. And there are borderline cases - for example,
reasonable (and unreasonable :-) ) people can disagree on whether
certain actions are rape or not.
- Comparisons of Heortling morals to RW morals are nearly
meaningless. Heortlings have met their god, and religion is tightly
integrated into all aspects of life. Don't go to church and you'll
freeze to death in the winter, or the crops will fail. I'd
tentatively suggest that most real world criminals are not
particularly religious (though this will certainly stir up debate!)
and confidently state that none of them have met their God.
