ranged combat

hi,

i am new to the hero wars game, but i like the rules very very much and also the world...but i have a problem with ranged combat

what skills are used for close combat fighter vs. ranged combat?

how to interpret when two people are fighting and a ranger fighter wants to shoot one of them..he risks all and fails...having nearly no ap left...??

i hope you can help me with that
