The Bew is the boon and bane of many a Kralori scribe, for it is from that far eastern land that the little Bew or Ink Monkey hails. This amiable black primate has developed an unquenchable thirst for writing ink and has forsaken all other parts of its diet to delight in the consumption of the black liquid. Many a scribe can be found sat crosslegged before his writing table with a small host of Bew waiting in the shadows cast by his jade lantern. Many writers say that the Ink Monkeys lend them inspiration, and so thank the little beasts with bowls of ink to devour. Those that foolishly try to drive the beasts away quickly find that their magic can also confuse and clutter the mind of the scribe, causing spelling mistakes and syntax errors within their scriptures. If the Bew are not satiated they have been known to steal ink from under the scribes nose and leave their scratch-like markings across the page ruining a days work. So remember if you are working late at night and you can see small dark eyes staring at your ink-well it may be a Bew, so greet him cordially, bow low and thank him for his inspirations with a gift of ink. Ocasionally a Bew needs to suplement its diet with a little fibre so if your writing brush goes missing don't bother hunting for it.
