I would tend to agree with you on this. It is not for everyone - though on some occasions, my 'list' folks have asked to write narratives.

The 'list as I go along' is a good approach, especially for newcomers to RPGs and Glorantha. With HQ's somewhat more flexible character creation rules, the list method becomes a little more useful.
