For what it's worth, I'll add my new-to-Glorantha-as-of-HW, list-lurker opinion.

Realistically, people already have enough trouble choosing between the three (HQ, Rules, and Digest) mailing lists. Adding a fourth, or a tenth, will not help matters in this respect; keeping the number of options small is a Good Thing. (Additionally, when I signed up a couple of years ago, it was difficult enough *finding* all the lists, and figuring out where to subscribe and such, even though it was allegedly summarized in one location (perhaps this has improved since then).)

Likewise, regionally-focussed groups would be a detriment; many discussions, here and on the Digest, range across the regions and/or topics (e.g. "this culture worships a sorcerous being which also seems to be a theistic being -- what's up with that?"). Either we'd get a painful amount of cross-posting, or content appropriate for List 1 would end up only being posted on List 2.

To be cross-posted to the Digest: I too experience the problem with the Digest, where it becomes unwieldly to scan-'n'-filter a single email for the one or two bits of esoterica which I care about. On the other hand, the moderated-and-delayed feature of the Digest is also a Good Thing, in that it encourages more scholarly discussion, which is (after all) the purpose of that list. If the mailing list software permits it, I'd suggest that the Digest be kept as-is, *except* that instead of one single digest being sent out at 4:am, we'd get (this morning) eight separate messages sent out at 4:am. This would seem to fulfill the perceived need for regionally-focussed lists, as individual messages can be more easily filtered.

Interesting discussion.
