I reckon it's fantastic.

My 11 year old, who is just coming to the Steve Jackson Choose your own adventure books, who has only watched Dad play role playing games on a couple of occasions came in with his own Hero Wars character the other day. It was based on the 3 hours of character generation he'd seen and the 8 hours of KODP he's played (War Clan, heavy on Weaponthanes).
