Not sure how James Frusetta and II feel, but my guess is that common magic for trolls comes from the common religion of worshiping the ancestors through Kyger Litor. This helps to get explain the fact that all trolls worship Kyger Litor, but she has no cult (i.e. no specialized religion) in uz. So make Kyger Litor the troll common religion, create a list of trollish feats, charms, talents, and spells and you are away.
