I'll declare an interest by admitting that I did order the hard cover.

But I hope that if the books are available they will be shipped rather than waiting for the release of the paperback. I can understand that retailers MIGHT complain. Indeed if the hardback had been scheduled to ship before the paperback they would have good grounds for complaint. But in this case the closing date for orders passed before the delay on the paperback was known. Nobody ordered the hardback because they would get it earlier.
