Oh! One of the things you get in the far north is 'candle ice'

When the summer finally comes, the ice melts on the tops of the lakes much faster than it does from under neath. This water disolves holes in the ice (similar to the size of hole you get by dribbling hot water onto a big piece of ice)...

...eventually the entire lake is filled with twisted bits of ice that look like novelty candles. As they melt and the wind moves them, they chime together. For a few hours, it sounds as if thousands of tiny wind-chimes are everywhere. Then its gone.

Once a year for a day, if you're lucky. Its one of the most etherial sounds I've ever heard (other than the Northern Lights)
