I've got no outside knowledge to work from, but I'm a firm believer that a wall raised truly by earth magic should not in any way look like worked stone. I'd go for smooth stone, but I'd think about the fact there's no reason for it to be featureless. After all, it was raised by magic. So while it should have no bricks, stones, mortar, and cuts, it could well have faces, mythological stories in bas-relief (or jutting out) all along the surface.
