A bit of of a lurch into the Your Game Will Vary territory, but why
not go for something like Teshnos? Hi-jack it - make it your own.
Ditch what is officially there and insert your thing. You have the
wastelands and Kralorela around. Stick a mountain range betwen your
players and the Kralorelans and go for it.
If you then want to take a trip into orthodox you can. Jump on a
ship, trek across the wastelands, get captured by raiding Pentans
and carried off west - whatever takes your fancy in the spirit of
MGF! Thats what I'd do anyway.
