Harking back to an older set of posts, I've been doing some research on chaparral/maquis terrain. It is semi-arid, droughts being common, and gets 15-40 inches of rain a year, most of which runs off into streams. In Mediterranean maquis, pretty well all the rain falls in winter and none in summer. In Californian chaparral it's more spread out, it falls mostly in winter and none in summer.

So the info that people have been using from the RQ sources is correct.
