Not necessarily in Heortling Society though from my own take on the published materials. I disagree with Ian's assertion that Devotees are principally *magicians* who spend 60% of their time refining their magic. This is not the Glorantha I recognise.
IMG you could not remain a Minlister Devotee if you spent all your time hunting the Elder Wilds for magical artifacts for the rebellion. No, that is what Orlanth Adventurous type guys do, not brewers. If they spend too long away from brewing fine mead they get bumped down to Initiate. This is known amongst Minlister worshippers as getting the dreaded 'Brewers Droop'!!!
I feel Heortlings are called by an aspect of their God and spend their lives emulating that God if they worship Voirof for example. Heortlings are practical and if Nobby was off praying again when the sheep had to be brought down for market....
