The view that those worshipping occupational gods are actively worshipping by performing their tasks seems much more holistic and natural to me. This is partly due to my real world view that religion shouldn't just be something practiced or paid attention to at odd times during the week or year, but that it should inform every waking action. Yes, to a Bantar devotee, plowing the field is an act of devotion. To an Odayla devotee, hunting deer is an act of devotion.
The idea of a Barntar devotee spending much of his time in quite contemplation seem quite artificial to me.
