RQ:Elder Secrets Book 1 p35ff explains that metals are "analogues not duplicates of Earthly Metals".

It goes on to describe bronze & unenchanted iron to have the physical properties analogous to real world untempered iron (unenchanted iron also having some magical properties), and encanted iron being analogous to steel (RQ half again armour points).

In HeroWars (Advance Magic, p233) "Iron is superior to the normal Hu-metal (bronze), and can both keep a sharper edge and protect better. Enchanted iron weapons and armor are two ranks better than their bronze equivalents"

In Heroquest p78 Bronze seems to be replaced by Brass and enchanted iron has double bonous but the equality of brass/bronze and unenchanted iron is not clearly defined.

The Gustbran write-up, Stom Tribe p216 has Iron being "far more difficult" to work.

In HeroWars (Advance Magic, p233) "Iron is superior to the normal Hu-metal (bronze), and can both keep a sharper edge and protect better. Enchanted iron weapons and armor are two ranks better than their bronze equivalents"
