I think that Orlanth and Ernalda are linked at their very core identities. They are a pairing of gods that mutual reinforce each other - even the Esrolians acknowledge that (although they have long made the political determination not to emulate the Storm Tribe in the mundane world). With Orlanth dead, Ernalda must sleep - her most powerful protector is dead and not just exiled (again, even the Esrolians acknowledge that).

Keep in mind that Imarja, the great supernatural being of Esrolia, is a common religion and is not affected by the Windstop.

Again, maybe her father is irrelevant or downplayed now. However that has not always been the case and will not always be the case.
