Asterix. One tiny village against those crazy Romans.

Caucasian Mountains with either the Persians or Russians as antagonists. Has the added advantage as the people in the next valley are strange and weird.

English versus the Welsh. Pretty much like Scotland except that it's harder to muster sympathy for the natives.

Spanish versus the Basques. Not a good fit as the repression there is twentieth century rather than medieval. One could have the Moors versus the Navarrese.
