Oh it's a bad idea to get involved with this. But since when have I ever let that stop me before?

I've played in a game (last night) where my Adept of the Four Pillars School summoned a crystaline elemental man from the fourth stage of Juorg, to subsequently have it help him in a ritual to do an opening to a secret space created by the Sorcerers of the Arroglan Circle that he intends to use to store his laboratory while he transports it to a location in the gigantic city of Baraquilat. (See, he plans to find a better space to operate than the barn he was in so he can use the little elemental man to help him create a stable gate like the wizards of the High Reign had so long ago, but which have been lost to the empire for ages now. I'm assuming that it's highly likely that there will be problems with the storage space, however...).

Indeed it can. It was tremendous fun making all the above details up last night as we played. OK, fine, Baraquilat I made up when I made up the character, but...

What's interesting is that I'm really not all that particularly good at being creative. But I've played this way successfully with lots of people. Turns out that just about any schmoe has enough creativity to be interesting to himself and the people he's playing with.

Er, point is that detail does not require that it be written down somewhere before play begins. Nor do I ever have to argue with anyone as to whether this sort of detail is "correct" in order for it to be fun in play. Since we're making it up on the spot, and just for ourselves.

You will come over to the dark side! I'll have you all eventually! Bwahahahahahaha!

(Actually I think that Greg is pretty safe in being the center of creativity here for a while at least - but one can always hope) :-)
