Given that your campaign got steadily "grittier", perhaps once Loskalm had reimagined itself as a military juggernaut capable of taking on the Kingdom of War (albeit perhaps unsuccessfully) LDoaH might consider his work to be done and turn up to anoint one of the heroes as his successor and exhort them to spread the doctrine across the face of Glorantha?

This would be the end of the world for Loskalm (as we know it) and probably the beginning of the end of the world for its neighbours...

If the heroes are sliding towards becoming the monsters they face, you can always let them complete that slide?
