Hello Tribe,
For a year or so, I've been running a Kralorela campaign with the
players as the investigative branch of a government of a holy, but
somewhat senile mandarin. The game is definetly HeroQuest, but I've
drawn some lessons from DitV for the structure of the adventures and
the campaign.
There are a few things that I've wanted to include in every adventure.
- a new cool thing about Kralorela.
- a new cool way to use HeroQuest.
- a clear structure for the adventures
The stucture part is the thing that I've kinda borrowed from DitV. I
made my own progression of sins. In Kralorela it goes something like this:
- Someone is unhappy about his social status.
- That someone seeks to fulfill himself by straying from his place
and he no longer fills his function in sosiety.
- This leads to one of the following sins: Illusion, Sensation,
Ignorance or Materialism
- Injustice, crime, murder...
- The social institutions break apart.
- The dragons shudder.
Or something like that. I don't have my notes with me.
So for example we have this Scribe.
- He wants to be a scholar, but already has a position as a scribe of
a trade house. His wife is big and strong and doens't attract him.
- He buys a yoga book from a shady bookdealer, starts to sublimate
his semen and leaves his marital duties unfulfilled. His wife and
younger brother have an affair.
- The meddling in Incorrect Teachings reaches so far that the scribe
falls into the sin of Illusion.
- He thinks that he will reach the sublime by a ritual suicide. The
wife and brither cover up the crime independent of each other and
naturally don't talk about it to each other, because they would lose
face. So tha (strong) lady drags the body to the shore of the river
and the little brother binds his brothers soul into a traditional
white sculpture, that turns black. With the soul bound, it can't be
summoned to be questioned.
- Shaoda Jeweled-Hide, the river dragon is disturbed by the soulless
corpse. The scribes tradehouse blames a rive tradehouse about
kidnapping their accountant to gain financial advantage. All sorts of
trouble arises.
- The rituals that uphold the imperial monopolies fail, because
Shaoda is part of the rituals, tradehouses start warring against each
other, there's flooding... Eventually an Exarch has to deal with the
problem and that won't be pleasant for anyone.
