Quarterstaffs: general info and fun stories

A friend sent me a link to a rather good article on the use of the Quarterstaff, and quite apart from its Issaries potential in Glorantha, it's a commonly mentioned weapon in a lot of generic medieval settings, and often misunderstood.

If you get interested, I'd suggest reading the full George Silver document, but this is a more accessible summary. George will give you a +5 augment to your knowledge of the staff, as well as +10 to sword, but the +15 to "despise Italians" makes reading him quite hard going. Mind you, the accounts of the duels where one side had a rapier and dagger, and the other had an oar, or a tankard of ale, are quite fun. (Hint: the rapier man loses).
