Basic literacy comes as standard in the Lunar Empire, remember. The cleaner probably won't understand the ritual, but he'll have a pretty good idea what it is. And someone at the bottom end of the scale is more likely to have grudges and lower loyalty... then again, this could be someone who's always believed in the Purity of the Lunar Way (we are all us, etc) and is now rather shocked by seeing the reality in action (crucifixions, the Bat).

Nor do I :)

If that's generally known about in Glorantha as well as in RL, yes. Though if she's got backing from the Esrolian Grandmothers, they can be quite specific about what grains to try or not to try, and may even be supplying the Earth expertise.

Yes, true. Is it more fun to have that be a local, or an Esrolian who thinks she's really important, do you think?

Yes....

Now that's a scene I'd love to see.

I'm sure of it.

That wasn't a trivial swap, you know, and I don't think swapping to Esra would be, either. Ern could take the role, but an expert would do the job far better - what would you give her, -10 improv modifier?
