Which is an example of when repetition fits within the rules as written. Is it entertaining and memorable to emphasise the repetitive spin up in this story? If yes then do it, its not against the rules.

There are hundreds of stories where this kind of thing is appropriate, but in the grand set of stories they are a specialist sub-set. Mythology often emphasises repetition, so it could easily be ruled fun in Glorantha in specific circumstances.

However, for me this still suggests either a single skill or a single augment.

The rules as written are suggestions to help you think these issues through for your group/genre.

I agree with this in most cases, the list of skills for your average character in HQ2 is going to be much shorter and most of these details can be emphasised during the narration. An augment in HQ2 should add something tangible to the conflict itself rather than just act as a buff, the freshness idea is just a reminder to steer clear from automatic patterns that fade into the background and only really serve to buff. Patterns that stay front and centre and continue to add something to the conflict in an entertaining manner are just fine.
