Most distributors base their initial purchases of product based on retailer pre-order and do not often anticipate demand outside the pre-order numbers. If your retailer did not place a pre-order with their distributor, they probably had their order placed on backorder until a new shipment arrived. This could be the cause of their confusion... or perhaps your retailer wants you to blame the distributor, rather than them.

As the former head of the games department at a local hobby retail chain, I have never found Diamond to be a particularly useful game distributor because comics take priority with them. Alliance and Berkeley-Topline both specialize in games, and as such are superior to Diamond in that regard.

Alliance Distribution and Berkeley-Topline both carry Issaries product, although Alliance in the past had the product code listed under the Chaosium prefix CHA, using a subprefix WA for Wizards Attic (whom they order their Issaries stuff thrrough). Thus the product code for the Deluxe HERO WARS set is CHA WA 9901 rather than ISS 9901 (which is the code Berkeley-Topline uses).
