This isn't a *new* short ritual, but an expansion of your Issaries one, now that I have some time to think about it at my leisure. :)

The Preparation of Issaries is a ritual used to prepare the celebrant for a heroquest. The hero's kin and allies bring him, or remind him of, the things that he might need on his trip to negotiate with strangers, just as Issaries' kin and friends helped him when he left the Storm Tribe lands

Ritual Elements:

A stout staff, named Forceful Argument (1 bonus point) A pair of sturdy boots
Gifts for the other party in the negotiations A mule, called Bearer, to carry his goods (1 bonus point) Food to nourish the hero on his journey
A cloak, named Turnchill (1 bonus point) A knowing companion, named Lhankor Mhy, who knows the customs of strangers (1 bonus point)
A scale and weights, so that fair exchange can be made A firepot, named Mahome (1 bonus point)
A counting stick, to keep a fair tally
A warrior named Humakt, to guard the hero on the road (1 bonus point) A light in the window of his longhouse, to guide the hero home A recitation from the hero, asking for support from his clan and announcing who he will negotiate with, what he intends to get, and what he intends to pay (1 bonus point)

The ritual as a whole is worth 2 points, if a Mythology of Issaries roll is made, with the named items giving a bonus of 1 each. This makes for a possible total of +9 points. It also allows the community to give the hero extraordinary support.

Bruce
