Re: Imperial Lunar Handbooks

I'm so glad to see Lodril mentioned. Although his worshippers have a raw deal in the Dara Happan world order, I find Lodril second only to Orlanth as an "everyman" god who is also potent far outside everday activities. Personally I've always found the most interesting heroes those who don't start out expecting to be heroes, but who are simply dealing with life....and in the process become heroes. Gods like Orlanth and Lodril suit that fairly well. Under Solar Rule, Lodrili wouldn't have been too exciting to play. Under Lunar rule, once you leave home who knows how far you can travel? (figuratively as well as physically).

Orlanth we know pretty well now. Maybe its time for the son who accepted doing some hard work to get his due! I hope you can find room for one or two juicy Lodril myths, showing some of why he is the god followed by probably more men than any other in the empire.

Hmmmm, I suppose this request just goes to show some of the diversity of interests in Gloranthan fans. Personally I can't imagine why you would want a culture book without showing the major cultural gods, and given them enough background so that people can understand why they are so important, and what their field of competence is. Just as I can no longer think about a Heortling without thinking about cows, and hence Uralda, I hope these books, especially the solar book, will help us understand the foundations of the solar order.
