The problem is, I don't think there is an IG spell "repel Lighting Bolt" that a common worshipper can obtain. Sure, it is easier to pray to the IG than to learn to toss the lightning bolt, but the prayer is, barring some miracle, completely ineffective.

As for the theme that Westerners attempting to be theistic causing such disasters (God Learners, arguably Gbaji) so that they don't try it again, that's a *very* interesting take. Not sure I buy it, since the Central Genertalans have had their share of disasters too, such as Gbaji, arguably the Red Goddess, but very interesting. If you like this model, the followup is: what is it about Westerners that makes their attempts such utter disasters, while the central Genertalans are better at it? Is IG jealous?
