Also significant is the faceless extra vs. two-dimesional character axis. My PC has 'nameless' warrior followers, his 4 storms (well only 3 so far), which to me fits in with the followers 'cheap and replaceable' pattern, but a lot of other people seem to have 'color' for their followers so that they are something more than nonentities.  I do wonder whether some of these 'followers' are not actually evolving allies and dependants but YMMV.

I'll try to collate some results for the first question when I get a moment.
