That's as far as riverboats and barges can go. A barge can draw up to 5' and requires a decently rock-free channel. Smaller craft (which can't compete econmically further downstream) could probably travel much higher. York Boats, canoes, skiffs and the like. Surely, there are fishing boats further up.

I wonder if Furthest is the equivalent of the 'First Cataract' on the Nile or the rapids at the Loreli on the Rhine (impassible till the 18th century)?
