As GM, I had a short window of opportunity to take over a PC trickster when the character was between players. Now, this is a Pavic trickster, a nutcase noble's son, and a literate forger. Not typical, if you can say that about any trickster.

With just a bit of forgery effort, he mananged the following to take place on New Year's eve, AKA Eurmal's Holy Day.

He hired caterers for New Year's Eve.

He contracted with another noble family to marry one of their poor wards to one of the trickster's brothers, a presentable but shy young man.

He arranged for the celebrant, an Ernalda priestess, and other guests.

He set the wedding on New Year's eve, a day well aspected for weddings regardless of Eurmal's use of the same date.

So, mid afternoon of New Year's Eve, the caterers show up with food. The PCs start wondering once they notice all the food is the trickster's favorites. (Baked dog--Yum!)

About 2 hours before sundown, a wedding party processes to the family manor on the slopes of the Real City.

A great deal of "what's all this then?" breaks out among the PCs, who find themselves in the awkward position of having to figure out what's happening without looking like they didn't know about everything ahead of time. The father and erstwhile arranger of the wedding is not present, and can't be reached before the time of the scheduled ceremony because he's 3 hours away in New Pavis.

The bride proves to be 25 to the groom's 17, with 4 surviving children from a previous marriage in tow.

The Ernalda priestess gets quite stern when someone suggests waiting, as she believes the ceremony must take place at sunset for the best effect. And the nobles supporting the bride seem on the edge of offense if the PC family refuses to honor the contract.

The groom bitches and moans and calls for his daddy to no effect, makes/fails a bunch of mean-nothing relationship and personality rolls, and finally agrees to go ahead with the ceremony.

The trickster hung around invisible for the whole day, enjoying the ceremony.

In the end, the trickster's youngest brother ended up happily married with a tough, no-nonsense underwife and 4 stepchildren, one only 7 years younger than he is.

And the new bride hates the trickster with a passion, though she's never been told what he did. So trickster tricked himself.

The new player took the character over the next session....
