I did not want to send out this message. Many of you have received entirely too many of them. If you never want to see one again, please let me know. I understand entirely. We are well aware that many of you cannot possibly help in any case, but at least hope you still have enough interest in our fortunes to want to know what is befalling us. For many of you, these little desperate pleas are all you ever hear from us (besides the thank you notes if you help us) and we are very sorry about that, for you have all been dear friends. Unfortunately, the rest of our time is being spent trying to get into a position where we can send you notes about how well we are doing. No luck, so far.

We were unable to make any payments on the November rent, and the landlord has hit me with a "pay both Nov and Dec or get out in 3 days" notice on Dec. 2.

I had hopes of catching up over December, both from some job prospects that seem like they might pan out and from selling off some of the ephemera I've collected over the years. But, as the subject line says, they are rushing me.

They want $2400 (two months rent). From past experience, a reasonable amount up front with fulfilled promises of finishing it later is sufficient, or has been in the past.

Or if someone has ideas about alternate accomodations, that's good too. Or space to store a bunch of stuff is good. And if there is anything we have that someone else wants to purchase (cheap) please let us know. Luise will take art commissions, as well.

At this point, the family exchequer has about $40.00 in it. My unemployment has run out, though I am elibible again on December 22 (I can file on the 15th). I am also looking into Disability because I have done something to my left shoulder and it hurts lke hell. This is a very painful letter to write in more than one way. Since most everything I do involves typing, it is essentially disability.

Thank you all for your patience with us. Again, if you are tired of receiving these missives of doom, please let me know.

Thank you all again,

Steve, with hugs from Luise
