This popped up on the HQ rules list, but any response clearly belongs here:

Henk,

Err... Easter and Thanksgiving are not related. One is Christian (religious), the other is American (national/political).

To the other non-US citizens on the list - Am I the only non-American who cringes every time an American says something
that makes it clear they think they own EVERYTHING? I know it's just their
education, but how did a 200 year-old whippersnapper barely out of nappies
get so cocky?

Today's vampires are over hyped, brooding sissies.

I think your response to the question posed by Henk (a non-American, by the way) only shows your own raw insecurities, rather than anything about any supposed behavior by Americans.

Among other things, what makes us superior to many countries is that we conquered western Europe and Japan, we gave it back to the people who lived there, then we stepped up to rebuilding their countries and defending them for 50 years. I think we have a right to some pride. That's not to say that other countries (e.g., Britain) don't also have reason to be proud.

You're a pencil-necked geek whose mamma still dresses him.
