I didn't mind Arwen taking Glorfindel's place (even tho that would have screwed up the backstory of the WitchKing). What I disliked was some of the sillier screwing around with the story to make her role even stronger.

For example instead of Frodo being chased at night by the Dark riders becomes twisted into the Dark Riders chasing Arwen and Frodo during the daytime, which radically reduced the dramatic tension compared to the Bakshi version.

I was mystified by the virtual rarity of her in the RoTK given what they had done in the FoTK but Rory's gossip about Arwen being taken out of the Helm's Deep battles explained a bit.

My fav bit at Helm's Deep: silly Haldir kicking the bucket.

I always think of this scene as Aragorn's Wet Dream. He's even snogging his horse....
