I saw this in the freebie "Metro" newspaper on friday, and was going to post a link here, but you beat me to it.

It did remind me of a story that would normally be OT, but this is CHQ and there ain't no such thing...

I was on a Whale-watching trip and our guide was a very intense naturalist, who didn't always pick up on the groups sense of humour. He was telling us about some research that he had been involved in that was similar to that described above, but concerned the different accent of common Frogs found in Southern England and a short hop (sorry) away across the channel "What", I asked, "The English Frogs go 'Ribbit' and the French ones go <adopts lubugrious French accent a la Sacha Distel> 'Rii-bbae'" The rest of the table dissolved in a fit of giggles while our somewhat non-plussed guide looked confused...
