I thought I could list some analogies that have been used to 'help' describe Glorantha through the years, then we could vote for the worst.

The Lunar Empire is like:
The roman empire with scimitars
The selucid empire, with a crimson bat
the USSR, with scimitars.
the medieval moslem world

The Carmanian Empire is like:
The Ottoman Empire
The Assyrian Empire
The Persian Empire
A land with Fighters, Magic Users and Lords.

Orlanthi are like:
Vikings crossed with Celts
Germanic tribes
The Gauls from Asterix the Gaul

Praxians are like:
American Plains Indians, who herd animals Scythians,

Pentans are like:
Scythians
Huns, but with firebomb magic.
Mongols
American Plains Indians, who herd animals

Sartar is like:
Greek city states
Wales, but with dragons.
An overpopulated wilderness

Esrolia is like:
Egypt
the Iroquis

Pavis is like:
A frontier town like in a Western.
Zebra Riders are like the 7th cavalry

Glorantha is like:
A slightly bulging lozenge

Harrek is like:
Conan the barbarian
Harald Hardrada

The Gods don't understand you 'cos they speak Chinese Divination is like reading a newspaper.

I'm sure that there are many many more.
