Yeah - I try to limit my involvement in Newark to the transit from the airport to Manhattan. There's a reason why the Sopranos are set in Newark (and that's Newark, New Jersey - a famed city of crime).

I know that area well - neat area, surprising amount of history. Dramatic improvement on Newark. IN fact, whereas Newark is a dangerous slum, Manhattan is the safest large city I've ever been to (certainly safer to wander about at 2 am than London or Paris).
