Your founding fathers' words, not mine. Some of whom really wanted to be given letters patent, anyway. We went for 'peace, order and good government'. Not saying we got them all, but two out of three isn't bad.
Come off it, Americans just don't want to see the socialist programs and attitudes they've got. You've got Medicare, which is limited, but exists. Most of your infrastructure, e.g. highways, water and sewerage, port facilities, all owned by some level of government. You've got all sorts of regulations to prevent raging capitalists from going back to the days of child labour, a 70-hr work week, etc., etc., etc. There's social democracy in action for you.
Wish absolutely everyone could be a capitalist winner, but as it's a system that pretty much ensures that most will end up disadvantaged, I'll pass.
And all this from Tex-Mex at Tentacles. My, haven't we drifted?
Keeping the red flag flying,
Signed,
A proud union steward
