war. It happens to every military and in every conflict. Heck at Waterloo, Blucher ordered the Prussian artillery to attack the British (he thought they were French). The British took losses and returned fire. Jeff

Yeah, everyone else does that too, just that the us has some amount of openess, which those primitive medievalpeans and such don't,and actually openly talks about its mistakes and problems. As if obesity is only a us problem and as if gun crime doesn't exist in Britain (has actually increased since tighter controls came in force).

I don't think Bluecher (ue stands for the umlauted u) actually ordered that case. The commander of the battery ordered it. The British commander at the receiving end turned his couple of remaining cannons on the Prussian battery and both exchanged for awhile. (They'd survived the whole battle intact, the French not having stubbed them after repeatedly overrunning the position, only to be nearly wiped out in a few minutes by Prussian allies. A Prussian officer rode over to tell them to stop. The British battery commander said he'd stop when they did. So both allies shot at each other for awhile, during the battle with the enemy, knowing that they were shooting at an ally.

Just to add a French side to it. At the Battle of Trafalgar the French ships immediately retreated, in panic at Nelson's advance, leaving their Spanish allies to fight the battle for them. War and treachery on all sides.

Daniel
