Still sounds like an invasion to me - that's a long way inland! And pretty impressive, I'd say. Wasn't that the lot who tied a broom to the mast and claimed to have swept the seas free of English ships? Style. That counts for a lot.

I don't know of a war that went from '40 to '45. There was one from '39 to '45, though.

I believe the Irish ones claimed to be formal: as if any one cared. The last bomb threat I'm aware of was some sort of Arab, but I may be a bit out of date. Or, depending on your definition of "terrorist", the last act of that type may have been American.

Patagonia could be interesting. It's effectively Welsh. They haven't admitted having lost their own country to the English yet, they're still fighting that war.
