        Sure, but thats got nothing to do with being a warrior. If you'd changed Leika from being an Ernaldan to a Redaldan, there probably would have been almost no objection.

        Exactly - you are messing with it creatively in order to push a particular agenda (and, by this point, pushing your point of view to win an argument). If being cranky with trends among Glorantha fandom is your motivation, that seldom leads to good creative decisions.

        And, as Peter points out, its entirely unnecessary. You could have just, say, introduced new characters rather than retconning existing ones.

        Lets say there about 6 major known points of fact about Leika. And you changed about 3 of them, in order to pursue a personal agenda, completely unnecessarily. And are all surprised that people don't like it.
