My contestations are simple; namely:
- That, being a biased and incomplete collection of works, King of
Sartar pays little attention to the development of the Duckish Tribe in
the Third Age, most particularly in the issue of the fate of the
Duckish Tribe following Starbrow's Rebellion in 1613, and the
restitution of the Duckish Tribe in the aftermath of Argrath's
reconquest of Sartar. Were Chris still on this list, I am confident
that his secret passages from KoS would confirm the following.
- That during said reconquest, there arose a duckish Charismatic
Leader among Argrath's followers; whom by appointment Sartarite or
personal tasked him/her/itself with the restitution of the lands,
power, pride and greatness of Duckdom.
- That, faced with a near complete destruction of many edifices of
duckish culture and society, the Charismatic Leader was forced to adopt
a series of aggressively conservative and militant measures to secure
the future of Duckdom.
- That, faced with a historically fractious and rebellious duckish
diaspora, the Charismatic Leader reforged a notion of Duckdom that was
not reflected in the individualities of the self, but in the unity of
the tribe as a whole, subservient to the notion of the duckish state.
- That the Charismatic Leader at all times emphasised the glory of
duckish history, myth and legend, in word, architecture and deed. The
Duckish Tribe should "Reach for the sky!" again.
- That, in fostering notions of worth and glory, the Charismatic
Leader led the Duckish Tribe in a series of aggressive wars against its
neighbours, including enforcing its dominance over the Stream.
- That, in addition to the Charismatic Leader's own abilities, the
foundation of the New Order was based on his alliance with the duckish
Humakt Cult. Disciplined (relatively), loyal, Death-obsessed and with a
dubious ethical framework, the Humakt Cult provided a perfect foil to
the Charismatic Leader, and likewise appreciated many of his actions.
- That, ultimately, the duckish Humakt Cult became too powerful a
force for the Charismatic Leader to deal with, and he ordered its
liquidation in a Night of Shortish Knives.
9a. That, finally, the Fascist Duck State annoyed too many people, and
was brought down by a mix of internal and external intervention. And
the Charismatic Leader was assassinated in an amusing way.
OR
9b. That, finally, the Fascist Duck State conquered Glorantha and led
it into a terrible New Age.
