For sure! As usual, I'm not sure how useful, if at
all, the following are, but I do know that when I do
all of them it makes a difference. Make sure to put
magic in war in the sacred time. Make sure you are
attacked that year (summons of evil is a good back up
here, in case the horse nomads or whoever don't
oblige), do it during fire season, I suspect don't
launch a raid that year befor the quest, try and build
up your horse herds, sacrifice to Elmal.
Unlike everything else, the following I am quite sure
makes a difference, because twice I meant to do it
before questing, forgot, failed, went back to a saved
version, did it, and succeeded: build fortifications.
Obviously you can't do that if you are already maxed
out, but if you aren't, plan your fortification
building to coincide with your Elmal quest. Elmal
helps those who help themselves!
