Yep, horses or lack of is my problem.

The issue now is that whenever I try to trade for horses my caravans get attacked because I don't have any weaponthanes.

Add to this failed hero quests, starvation and an unpopular chief and I guess I'm onto a loser.

Well at least I've learnt something.
